"For the 19th year, a medieval kingdom will unveil itself at our new location: Silver Bowl Park with lavishly costumed knights, knaves, fine ladies and wenches as Clark County Parks and Recreation present the annual Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival, Oct. 5 - 7.

Several stages will feature entertainment with costumed performers presenting more than 50 shows per day along with historical re-enactments, jousting tournaments, medieval pageantry and more than 100 artisans – including blacksmiths, stained glass designers, jewelers, wood workers, toy makers, perfume blenders, stone carvers and sword, dagger and armor craftsman -- to demonstrate and sell their wares. Authentic food, from fish and chips to an English feast, also will be available.

Concerts all weekend will feature local acts with nationally known acts as well as a royal parade with kings, queens, warriors and peasants, will take place on Saturday and Sunday."

"Henderson will be celebrating the Twelfth Annual Hispanic International Day Parade.
21 Hispanic Countries were asked to submit a representative of their country to a crowning event that took place in May. The representative crowned that day will be participating in today’s parade.
The parade, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will begin at Ocean and Water and continue down Water Street to Pacific Avenue.
This years parade theme is "Our Returning Troops." Serving as Grand Marshall will be three high ranking servicemen from U.S. Air Force & State Attorney General Catherine Cortez Mastos as the parade's Madrina.
After the parade you will want to stay for the Hispanic International Festival. There will be plenty of food, artists, commercial and sponsor vendors, and an information booth."

Fall Programs @ Green Valley Library

Wow! Can you believe it's almost Fall? I am definitely ready to welcome the cooler weather, crisp apple scents, and pumpkins around every corner :-) Here is what I have planned for you for the next couple of months at the Green Valley Library:

Green Valley Teen Writing Club
September 18 @ 4pm
Registration recommended. Express yourself through writing! We meet on the third Tuesday of every month to practice with writing prompts, activities, and free writing. Twice a year we host a "Coffee House" open mic, and even prepare for the annual Teen Writing Contest. All skill levels welcome. Ages 12-17.

Cover2Cover Book Club (Scorpio Races)
September 25 @ 4pm
Registration recommended. Do you love YA books? Do you wish you could make something to remind yourself of the wonderful novel you just finished? Then this book club is for you! Meet on the last Tuesday of every other month to chat about the story, do a craft related to it, and pick up a new book for next meeting. Ages 12-17.

Movie in the Lounge

Pop by the Teen Lounge to enjoy some popcorn and a movie! Feel free to wear your PJ's or bring your own snacks to share. Ages 12-17. No registration needed.

"All Hallow's Read" Book Exchange and Thai String Doll Craft

Come one, come all, and make a Thai String Doll! These creepy little guys will make a perfect addition to your Halloween. Arrive dressed in your costume and get a special gift! Also, bring one book to swap with a friend in our first annual "All Hallows Read" Book Exchange. Enjoy light refreshments and eerie sounds of the season.
